Octopus’s Garden
Is probably my least favorite Beatles song. I don’t really include the avant-garde, “Revolution 9,” off the White Album, because that’s not even a song. But if we’re including that, of course, that would be included. Way to break up the band, Yoko! But, I always think of my favorite Beatles songs, and I never really think of least favorites. Along with the aforementioned, “Octopus’s Garden,” I will include, “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer!” on the list.
But no one likes least favorite lists as much as favorites. So, I’m going to name my favorite song by each Beatle. And the rules are, it has to be credited to each beatle separately. Because, if I included McCartney/Lennon songs, obviously, it’d be a tougher list to make. But just in case you’re curious, “Happiness Is A Warm Gun” is my favorite song that is credited to both McCartney and Lennon.
Ringo: “Don’t pass me by”
Lennon: “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”
Harrison: “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”
McCartney: “Eleanor Rigby”
What brought on this post, you ask? Well, I just finished watching, A Hard Day’s Night, which by the way is wonderful, and I thought I’d write a post regarding these British lads. Go check this movie out now!
