so.
i realize there’s a plethora of bands that are sort of reinventing this genre of electronic rock/laptop rock/keyboard dance rock, etc. the list of categorizing these bands are endless. and i’m really referring to the bands that sort of came about after the postal service’s “give up” record. which was huge. if that were released in 1993 or something, the success would have been grim. i say that because at the time it came out in 2003, teenagers were in love with death cab to begin with (you can thank the O.C. a bit for that), and in love with stuff like frou frou, air, etc. which, a side note, daft punk was doing this for years. they just came out at an earlier time than 2003, which they may have had the success as the postal service did. of course, now, they are alot bigger, thanks to the fan base of this “electronic rock/ etc” aforementioned genre(s), and thanks to their awesomeness of the “alive 2007” disc. which was just a great idea, by the way.
anyways, i’m getting off track. this post is about a recent discovery. owl city. go check it out. and before you say it - yes i know. they sound like hellogoodbye, playradioplay!, the postal service, etc. what say you. but, maybe i just heard it at the perfect time, that i feel like it’s better than the latest band that evokes this keyboard rock (whatever aforementioned genre, again). i think it’s fantastic.
