love came down at christmas

well, turkey day wasn’t at home with my family, however, i can’t say that i didn’t feel a bit ‘home’ in alabama with all 15 children and everyone else. i hate to say this, mainly for the offense to my family’s cooking, but i believe it was the most well-rounded thanksgiving meal i’ve ever had. you see, there are pros and cons of my grandmother’s cooking. i love my g-units to death (yes, g-units), but the tea is never sweet enough for my tastes. this is probably more on my side than anyone else’s but, being a sweet tea connoisseur, this is a big undertaking task for one to take to please me. apologies to everyone who find my pretentiousness absurd and unnecessary. ANYways - the food was glorious, along with the sweet tea. everything was great. potatoes, beans, corn, etc. and another thing is this: i like sweet potatoes now. i didn’t like them prior to this thanksgiving. they were like candy. so.freaking.good.

moving on… i’m in hoover, alabama at the moment. i had a wonderful dinner at panera bread and afterwards, made my way over to the barnes & noble, where i routinely go to the fiction section and peruse this book. one day i’m going to buy it, but i know if i buy it now, then it’ll just sit in my bag most likely. maybe because it’s 1,088 pages long. but i’m definitely intrigued, since i’ve heard marvelous things from this critically-acclaimed author. currently, i’m indulging in my obvious indulgences of j.d. salinger. salinger just makes me want to live in new york. every time i read one of his books, it evokes in me a desire to read every other book once more. ‘franny and zooey’ is arguably my favorite, but ‘the cather in the rye’ isn’t far behind. he’s just such a great writer, in my opinion. easily one of influences i would love to model myself after. not, copy. model. mm hmm.

lastly, i offer you - a christmas mix of sorts. every year, i crack out this compilation of my favorite christmas songs, which i believe, is the best collection of songs. no cheesy reindeer-santa-crap songs on here. just good, solid christmas songs. download here and it goes straight into your itunes. you can thank me later.
